I cannot believe my eyes but here it is from the Chronicle of Higher Education, forwarded to me by Satinder S. Sidhu, Chairman, Department of Physics, Washington College:

Baylor U. Faculty Senate Seeks Closure of Center Created to Study Religion and Science
By Beth McMurtrie

An institute created at Baylor University to explore the relationship between science and religion has instead inflamed the campus. On Tuesday, the Faculty Senate voted overwhelmingly [26 to 2] to ask the administration to dissolve the center, which was established without the knowledge of most faculty members, "to show respect for the Baylor faculty" and its "judgment regarding academic programs."

Since it was quietly established last fall as a part of the university's Institute for Faith and Learning, the Michael Polanyi Center has attracted a growing number of critics among Baylor's faculty. In addition to their irritation over lack of input -- some faculty members said they only found out about it when they stumbled across the center's Web site -- opponents argue that it is run by creationists attempting to promote their views with pseudoscience.

Shermer Lectures Upcoming At Ohio State University 4/24 And 4/25

I'll be speaking on why people believe in God at Ohio State University Columbus campus next Monday evening, April 24, staying at the Buxton Inn in Granville, which is allegedly haunted! Should be fun if I can find a ghost. Then on Tuesday, April 25 I'll be speaking at Ohio State University Newark campus also in the evening. Creationism Humor

This from Ed Babinski, Ed.Babinski@furman.edu By the way, speaking of "Design" have you seen the issue of Cretinism or Evilution that is devoted to the question, "Why We Believe in a Designer?" (It's a sarcastic title, not pro-Design, but the opposite.) Please feel free to alert the readers of your mag to the following website where they can read those articles on I.D.:
