November In Dallas

It's that time of the year again for JFK assassination buffs to gather in Dallas to discuss the latest conspiracy theories and whodunnit hypotheses, and Skeptic magazine research and investigations editor, Dr. Nick Gerlich, is there bringing you daily updates and photographs on our web page (www.skeptic.com). Go at once to our web page and you will find the story at the top of the home page. Just click and read. Nick has his digital camera with him so he is also posting images as well as his descriptive narrative of the conference. This is almost live coverage of a conference! Thanks Nick (Nick is also Skeptic's web meister and we are thankful for all the hard work he has put in on the new design and look to the skeptic.com page).

Baloney Detection Kit Update

Great news on the financial front. We have now raised over $16,000 toward the completion and mailing of the Baloney Detection Kit, thanks especially to donation of $10,000 from an individual who understands that the level of baloney in our society is getting out of hand. We need a little more to reach our projected goal of $25,000 so if you can make a donation to the Baloney Detection Kit project go to www.skeptic.com and click on the Baloney Detection Kit donation icon, or send a check to Skeptics Society, P.O. Box 338, Altadena, CA 91001, or call us at 626/794-3119 and make your donation over the phone with a Visa or Mastercard, or fax the donation (via credit card) to 626/794-1301 (just need your name, donation amount, phone number, and Visa or Mastercard number and expiration date).

Thank you again for your support on this important project.

Rebirthing In Colorado

From Linda Rosa of the Front Range Skeptics in Colorado:

A entire section of the Rocky Mountain News was devoted to a special investigation into the "rebirthing" death of 10-year-old Candace Newmaker. RMN journalists pulled off the impossible and located Candace's biological family; six months after the incident, the journalists first notified the family of her death. More information emerges to the public about the sadistic nature of "rebirthing" and "therapeutic holding" practices inflicted on kids diagnosed with the dubious "Attachment Disorder."
