I hate to post local events, but those of you in the Southern California area I will be debating God this Sunday ... er, that is, I will be debating a theologian about the existence of God, Sunday night, November 15, at 7:00pm at the Church at Rocky Peak. The question at hand is: "Does God Exist? Where Does the Evidence Point? For is Dr. Doug Geivett, Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology and author of EVIL AND THE EVIDENCE FOR GOD. We each get 20 minutes, then 12 minutes, then 8 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 3 questions each from the audience, then 3 questions each for each other, then I get struck down by lightning or hung by the thumbs. Should be fun. They are expecting over a thousand people; considering the demographics of belief in America, and the fact that it is being held at a church, I would imagine the audience will be slightly skewed was once a born again Christian and accepted Jesus into my heart, then take them on an intellectual journey to show what happened, and that it could, with any luck, happen to them as well, and that it really is possible to lead a fully enriched, happy, purposeful, moral life without any belief in God whatsoever. We'll see how that goes over.
